Nordic Walking is the ideal sport to do in company. There’s no need to strain yourself. It’s a non-competitive sport which actually leaves a lot of space for chatting too, the motto being: walk and talk!
With Nordic Walking it’s not the destination, but the activity itself, that counts, generating vitality and relaxation, the will to move and physical agility for all ages. And all this in the open air in close contact with nature.
Where is this sport from?
Nordic Walking has been practiced since the 1930s as summer training for those who do cross-country skiing. From their experience gained over the decades some sports scientists and sports doctors have developed this sport.
The benefits of Nordic Walking
The arm work with poles uses all your muscles, increasing your heart rate and activating your metabolism and consequently energy contribution. Nordic Walking increases calorie consumption and reinforces your shoulder, back and chest muscles. It is the ideal sport for body and mind.
Who is Nordic Walking suitable for?
Nordic Walking is suitable for everyone, of all ages, especially those who don’t want to or who can’t run, but want to do some exercise or physical activity. Nordic Walking is also ideal for those who want to slowly increase their physical shape. It is particularly suitable for sedentary people, who want to start a sport but without excessively forcing their muscles, joints and cardio-vascular system.
Equipment
Nordic Walking pole
Tip with quick removable system (with application of rubber pads on hard ground and without on soft ground)
Clothing
The sports clothing is not only used as protection from wind and rain, but must also be able to absorb sweat and allow your body to breathe too. This means wearing layers. Sports underwear is not enough – your clothing must also allow you to breathe and also protect you. The middle layer is needed for both ventilation and sun protection. Jackets and trousers must be comfortable and not restrict movement.
Shoes
Running shoes or light trekking shoes, padded for the winter, are suitable for Nordic Walking. The shoes must provide support during walking.
Healthy activity
Nordic Walking at the Hotel Taubers Unterwirt can be learnt through a short introductory course or during the weekly excursions programme.
As well as the trainer, Markus, the owner Helmut or his father Franz will go with you.
